BAG Credit Union is a not for profit organisation that exists only to serve their Members. This means low cost Loans are available to every Member. After all the Credit Union expenses are paid surpluses are returned to Members in a form of Dividend. BAG Credit Union is owned and controlled by it’s Members.

For over 20 years people in the Greater Bargoed area have achieved a better way of life through participation in their credit union. Now this opportunity is open to everyone who lives or works in the Upper Rhymney from Ystrad Mynach in the south to Rhymney in the north.

We are a financial co-operative that exists for the benefit of our members who live and/or work in the area. Like banks and building societies, we are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). Savers' deposits up to £85,000 are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). 

Unlike banks, our only shareholders are our members who save with us, and any profits we make are used to provide variable rate dividends to our savers, and to invest in the development of  our services. We are actively involved in our communities, and are committed to contributing to our local economy and the financial wellbeing of all of our members. 

We now have over 2,000 members of all ages and from all walks of life; each contributing to our local revolution for savings and loans.  Our members enjoy the benefits of saving safely together and being able to borrow at an affordable rate of interest if the need arises (subject to affordability), as well as the benefit of knowing that saving with us is a great way to support their local community.

We do not discriminate, you do not have to be employed or own your home to be a Member. Membership is for anyone who resides in or are employed in the Upper Rhymney Valley or who are attached to the following employers:- Caerphilly County Borough Council, Aneurin Beven Health Authority and Welsh Govrnment.
